Early afternoon on March 8th, Sullivan Fire District was dispatched to a MVA, believed to be a head on collision, near the top of CC Hill on Hwy 185, south of the Meramac River Bridge. I parked after making a U turn, on the right shoulder of northbound 185, and walked up to the scene to photograph it, discovering a Franklin County Road Department Dump Truck involved in the collision…..
…it was pulling a trailer with a Cat Excavator on the trailer, front end damage on the Dump Truck cab at the Driver`s side front corner….
…appeared to be a corner to corner head on collision, but at that point, I did not see a second vehicle…I did talk to the Dump Truck driver who told me what happened…that he met a high speed pickup at the top of the hill and they collided corner to corner, except that the pickup lost half of its metal from just behind the driver`s side door to the rear of the pickup, including the entire bed of it….
Another Franklin County Road Department crew came up and stopped at the top of the hill to assist northbound traffic in turning around at the CC Camp Historical Site parking lot, rather than sit and wait in line for an extended amount of time, while State Investigators worked the accident scene. The driver of the pickup was inside one of the ambulances when I arrived, injuries unknown.
