Meramac Fair Parade 2015 | Jwj Photo blog

I set up on Springfield Ave between Harrys Tire and Clark Street, and left Onyx in the truck due to the evening heat. I visited with classmate Rita Boyle and Jeannie and James Palmer before the parade and saw some others along the route as well. I was talking to Jeannie and James when we heard sirens approaching a few min before 6 pm…I`m sure some thought it was the start of the parade at first…but they were coming up the street too fast to be part of any parade…

…and soon Bourbon FD came into view turning the corner on to Springfield from Clark Street, followed by their brush truck and boat, running code three to a call….

…then a few seconds later, here came Sullivan FD with their pumper enroute to Bourbon`s district to assist them on the call….

…I called around and could not find out what type of call they were responding to, and didnt see smoke in the skies to the west…even Jim Bartle couldn`t find out what the call was either…he was tied up in Owensville so I was shooting the parade for the paper. About ten minutes later, the parade began and we found out as they turned the corner from Clark to Springfield, that all the firetrucks had returned in time for the start….

…saw a Franklin County deputy buddy of mine, James Harden, driving the FC Swatmobile next….

…then the Colors were presented by the Veterans of the VFW Hall….

…followed by the queen candidates and the SHS Screaming Eagles Marching Band in their summer uniforms….

..and a few floats and entries that caught my eye….

…then I saw the Crawford Electric truck approaching and the driver called out to me, none other than my buddy Chris Conrad…

…followed by some beautiful fast cars…one driven by another friend Frank Burkhardt, who naturally had to revv his up when he passed by….

…and some interesting floats like Jerry`s RCA, a couple of little guys with some wild looking helmets, and some saloon gals & cowboys from MOBAP Rehab and Gym….
