House Fire 131 Meredith Lane, First Of 2 Suspicious, April 2024

On April 26th, 2024, around 7:30 pm, Sullivan Fire was dispatched to a residential structure fire, with St Clair and Bourbon Fire Districts toned out for the assist. I arrived ahead of the firefighters, as this is only a few blocks from my house…Sullivan Police and some scanner listeners were on scene as well when I arrived and parked over by Central Market. I walked over to the east side of the residence and photographed the heavy brown smoke coming from everywhere…

Sullivan Firefighters arrived shortly after and began looking for the source of the fire…

…and once found, stretched a hoseline to the east side of the house, deciding to break into the wood wall to the rear partition….

…where the seat of the fire was located…possibly set by vagrants…this was the residence several years ago of Dr Ronald Scott, and the partition in the rear of the basement was his office. His daughter, Ronnie Schmidt, was the Music teacher of Sullivan Schools and very well liked. The residence has been vacant for some time and believed used by the homeless.

House Fire 114 Miller Street Sullivan March 2024

Early morning on March 27th, 2024, Sullivan was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 114 Miller Street, close to the Elementary School. I arrived to find Sullivan PD on scene and smoke coming from every opening in the 2 story white house…it was believed to be vacant but often used by vagrants……

My buddy Jim Bartle showed up soon after I did…he probably thought I didn`t hear the tones, and we walked around the house to the rear as soon as the firefighters arrived and stretched a line to the back as well….

…and firefighters began to enter the rear door off the deck….

Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire inside the house, and while there, received another call…Jim took off to go to that call and I stuck around a few minutes later, before heading home.

Multiple Semi`s MVA East of Cuba EB 44 March 2024

Believed to be due to a heavy rainstorm, Cuba Fire was dispatched to an MVA Eastbound I-44 near the 211 mile marker, involving multiple semi`s. Cuba Fire struck a 2nd alarm soon after arrival, observing smoke coming from one semi and others with heavy damage….

…appears to be a box truck turned over in the center median and a few semi`s with heavy front end damage…

From what I heard later, six semi`s were heavily damaged, injuries unknown.

Structure Fire Town & Country Car Wash Bourbon March 2024

Linda Crump sent me some photos of a structure fire that Bourbon Fire responded to and extinguished on the 10th of March, 2024…..

I dont have any other info on the fire, just that it was pretty bad and heavily damaged the car wash. I was out of the area that day. Whoever took the photos…Linda I think…did a great job.

House Fire Modern Street Sullivan March 2024

Early evening of March 11th, 2024, Sullivan Fire was dispatched to a residential structure fire, at 155 Modern Street…I arrived just ahead of Captain Konys` crew in Pumper 8854. Heavy fire was blowing out the east side of the house, from what appeared to be a now enclosed garage, converted to an extra room, as firefighters stretched a preconnect attack line…here firefighter Joe Kincaid is waiting for water….

…and Joe knocked down the fire as the crew and medics pulled the supply line and hooked to the hydrant…

Additional firefighters arrived, pulled a second hoseline, and assisted Joe with fire suppression as he prepared to make entry into the fire room….

Head On MVA 185 Meramac State Park March 2024

Early afternoon on March 8th, Sullivan Fire District was dispatched to a MVA, believed to be a head on collision, near the top of CC Hill on Hwy 185, south of the Meramac River Bridge. I parked after making a U turn, on the right shoulder of northbound 185, and walked up to the scene to photograph it, discovering a Franklin County Road Department Dump Truck involved in the collision…..

…it was pulling a trailer with a Cat Excavator on the trailer, front end damage on the Dump Truck cab at the Driver`s side front corner….

…appeared to be a corner to corner head on collision, but at that point, I did not see a second vehicle…I did talk to the Dump Truck driver who told me what happened…that he met a high speed pickup at the top of the hill and they collided corner to corner, except that the pickup lost half of its metal from just behind the driver`s side door to the rear of the pickup, including the entire bed of it….

Another Franklin County Road Department crew came up and stopped at the top of the hill to assist northbound traffic in turning around at the CC Camp Historical Site parking lot, rather than sit and wait in line for an extended amount of time, while State Investigators worked the accident scene. The driver of the pickup was inside one of the ambulances when I arrived, injuries unknown.

Sullivan Fire District was toned out to assist Bourbon Fire District with a Garage Fire Tuesday afternoon, February 13th, on Sappington Road south of Bourbon. I followed one of the trucks to the scene, the McGraw residence…emotions were running pretty high when I started taking photos, so I kept my distance and used my zoom lens alot.
